Thailandese Women in Society

Women in Thailand are treated the same as many women from any other part of the world. Here, women can participate in politics. In fact 44 women of 499 politician in Thailand are women. From this 20 women in Thailand are senators or deputy. And there are 3 women from 35 member’s cabinet.
The Constitution provides for the equality of all citizens; however, some inequalities in the law remained.  For example, marriage and family laws discriminate against women as we mention in a previous topic, but besides that,  women in Thailand have the same opportunities as men. For example:

* In Thailand the prostitution for men and women is illegal,
* Women in Thailand can study to become a professional,
* If they want,  women in Thailand can become in a policewoman
* Women in Thailand can participate in the army of their country.

There are still arranged marriages in Thailand.  Parents can arrange a marriage if they want, it doesn’t matter the reason. Beside that, when a couple is getting married in Thailand they can’t see each other for 3 days after the wedding.
In Religion, women are forbidden to become a monk, as a fact women can even have any contact with monks because their religion says that a monk won’t be able to avoid any type of relation with women.

  1. Their religion is very special. Now I know a little more how is women's life there, beacuse years ago htey didn't have the same rights than now, at least this has changed a little, but it can be better. Hernán Olivares

  4. Although still in Thailand have arranged marriages, women have beyond the possibility of choosing more varied studies! We come closer to a country that is assimilated to our customs and beliefs!
